The Boomerang Cup is the international amateur teams handicap doubles event which is normally played every two years in Melbourne. A very successful Boomerang Cup was played in January 2023, delayed due to Covid. Somewhat out of sync, the Boomerang Cup in 2024 will be celebrating 30 years since the inception of the tournament and we are keen to see teams from as many clubs as possible from France, UK, USA, Netherlands and Australia.
RMTC would like to invite all overseas and local real tennis players to treat yourselves and soak up the hospitality in vibrant Melbourne during summer. You can enjoy some great tennis and, especially for our international friends, have a break from the northern winter once again.
There are many other wonderful sporting and social events on around the Boomerang Cup to help make your trip even more memorable:
- Australia vs Pakistan Boxing Day Cricket Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG): 26 - 30 December followed by 2 further tests in Australia
- Australian Real Tennis Men’s Open at RMTC: 2 - 9 January
- Australian Tennis Open at Melbourne Park: 14 - 28 January
- Golf and bike riding events
Why not organise a side trip to either Ballarat or Hobart?
- Ballarat is hosting the Lalor Cup from 3 - 5 January, with great fun, billeting and handicap doubles.
- Hobart offers the Taste of Tasmania from the 28 December - 3 January. Play some tennis, watch the Sydney-Hobart yacht race arrivals, enjoy great wine and food, and much, much more.
It is going to be a sports fest in Australia next summer. Now is the time to start planning and organising your team, lock in the dates and book the flights!
We can’t wait to see you all in January.
